One Plus One = One

Funso and I have been married for more than 20 years. One of the major lessons we learned is oneness. It is important that husband and wife see each other as one. One flesh, one mind, one voice, one purpose… Oneness in everything. A divided couple cannot stand the test of time. If you see that you and your spouse are finding it difficult to find a common ground, there is fire on the mountain. I suggest you:

  • Talk about it. Communication is vital in marriage. Don’t talk over each other. Have a heart to heart talk with each other.
  • Develop strategies to address your differences.
  • Respect each other’s opinion.
  • Pray about it. No matter how small or how big the issue may be, cultivate the habit of taking it to the Lord in prayer. This is one of the things my husband and I do together that we cannot trade for anything in the world. God answers prayers!
  • Cherish and focus more on what you have in common.
